| Granted, not every student is ready to take advantage of Early College. Most of the curriculum consists of more-advanced college courses. Students spend some summers taking electives. And, there's no high school football on Friday nights — or many other activities tied so strongly to traditional high school life.

But you know how different students can be. For some, the independence, personal challenge and wide array of courses at Early College are exactly what they need to thrive.
The best candidate may not be the most academically gifted in your school. Instead it could be the student who shows promise in a technical field and is already looking forward to a rewarding career. Or, it could be that student with a serious interest in some subject not taught in the traditional high school setting. Perhaps the qualified student who couldn't afford to earn a college degree any other way.

Students wanting to attend Early College must submit an application, along with a writing sample and recommendations, during their eighth grade year. So, who actually applies for admission is eventually up to students and their parents. But since you know your students as well as anyone, why not suggest Early College to those who would benefit the most? After all, Early College offers the door to a successful future, and you may hold the key.
